On Jan. 2, a judge rejected brothers' claims that they were falsely imprisoned by the U.S. Border Patrol. In 2004, police officers were called to a Laredo nightclub after brothers Shayne and Keith Lundy became involved in a confrontation with staff. After learning that Keith Lundy was a Border Patrol agent, the Border Patrol was also called to the scene and took the brothers to one of its stations where they remained until Keith Lundy's wife picked them up. The Lundys claimed they were falsely imprisoned during the incident, in which they alleged the Border Patrol took their identification and detained them without cause despite their requests to leave. They said the incident caused emotional distress. Keith Lundy also said it resulted in a one-day suspension from his job and caused stress in his marriage. The defense argued the Lundys went with the Border Patrol voluntarily and never made specific requests to leave.
