Fox News has reported the following claims:
A North Texas family living on the Barnett Shale is suing several natural gas companies over allegations that toxic chemicals from gas wells have poisoned the air and water on its property, and led to a number of health problems.
When Rancher Bob Barr built his dream home in Wise County a decade ago he expected to spend the rest of his life on the 40-acre property. But now?
"We can't drink our well water. We can't breathe the air without getting sick," Parr said.
Parr and his wife, Lisa, along with their 7-year-old daughter, Emma, say they've been poisoned out of their own home by natural gas drilling.
In the lawsuit, the family claims more than 50 natural gas wells appeared without warning a few years ago within a 2-mile radius of the property.
"When all the gas drilling started around our home, we started to experience health effects," Lisa Parr said.
She says she made several trips to doctors' offices and emergency rooms for a number of unexplained symptoms: Everything from rashes, to nausea, to exhaustion. She says Bob and Emma also suffered severe nosebleeds.
The Parrs also say in their lawsuit that they finally went to an environmental doctor who confirmed the presence of several neurotoxins in their blood matching chemicals used in natural gas production.
